Just six years ago, twenty-two year-old, Holland, New York native, Chris Lewis jumped into a racecar for the first time, not knowing where his journey would lead. Today, Chris is poised for a career in motorsports with TMS Racing.
Chris shares a passion for racing with the rest of his family. When he’s not behind the wheel you can usually find Chris working on his family’s racecar with his brother and father or behind his desk at On Track Promotions. Chris started On Track Promotions in 1999 in an effort to help race teams promote themselves.
Chris made his first career start in October of 2000, in a Street Stock invitational race at Wyoming County International Speedway in Perry, New York. Since then 2000 Chris has put a lot of hard work into progressing though the ranks.
In 2001 Chris and his brother, Tyler, decided they wanted a bigger challenge. After relocating to North Carolina, Chris would compete twice in the NASCAR Late Model Super Truck division at Hickory Motor Speedway.
Chris’ first two full seasons of racing would take place in 2002 and 2003 in the NASCAR Late Model Super Truck division at Hickory Motor Speedway. A season of learning would bear Chris with twelve top-fifteen finishes in eighteen starts in 2002.
The 2003 race season saw Chris make great strides in his racing as he made 22 starts in the NASCAR Late Model Super Truck division. Chris raced to 21 top-fifteen finishes, 11 top-ten finishes, and finished ninth in the season ending point standings. More determined than ever before, Chris and his family-owned and operated team headed into 2004 looking to put their race team up front. Mission accomplished. Chris raced across the Southeast at several different racetracks in 2004 and qualified in the top-five ten times in just 17 starts, including two outside poles. He ran up front the entire season, but failed to find victory lane despite leading several different races. Chris finished off the season with 15 top-fifteens, 10 top-tens, and 3 top-fives in 17 starts.
In 2005 Chris and TMS Racing took the season off in order to prepare for their NASCAR DODGE Weekly Series Late Model Stock Car debut at Hickory Motor Speedway in 2006. When 2006 rolled around TMS Racing was prepared, but little prepared them for a season ending blow just six starts into the '06 season. Though the season ended quickly, Chris was able to record an outside pole, one top-five, and three top-fifteens.
Chris and the entire team worked hard over the winter to regroup and put together a championship contending car. After the birth of this first child (Kylen Bliss, February 8, 2007), Chris has dove into the 2007 season more determined than ever. With luck on their sides Chris and the entire TMS family hope for a happy, healthy, and extremely successful '07 race season.
